The Pennsylvania Attorney General is cracking down on these annoying telemarketers
AG’s Michelle Henry said Amazon and Walmart gift cards are used to collect personal information from consumers and sell it to telemarketers. In a press release, Henry said that through promotions that offered gift cards as incentives to popular retailers such as Amazon and Walmart, Fluent and its subsidiaries collected personal information, including phone numbers, that could be used by telemarketing companies to sell “prospects“.

Attorney General Henry said, ‘‘Don’t call me’ means just that, and my firm will continue to do everything in its power to actively target those who illegally cross the line. ‘ said. “I didn’t know that the millions of people who signed up for gift cards and other prizes at well-known retailers were also signing up for intrusive telemarketing calls.” The settlement allows Fluent and its affiliates to contact Pennsylvania individuals on the National Registry or Pennsylvania’s “do not call” list without the consumer’s prior express written consent.
