Two women in Baltimore were arrested and pleaded guilty after a 4-year-old boy was burned to death through a scalding bath.
Fatal Death of 4-Year-Old Boy
A 4-year-old boy fatally died after a scalding bath burned him. His dead and burned body was later found in a dumpster. Police authorities identified the boy as Malachi Camron Bethea-Lawson. Investigation revealed that he was first reported missing to Baltimore Police on Aug.1, 2019.
In a published article in TRUE CRIME DAILY, his stepmom Alicia Lawson initially told the police that the child disappeared while he was in front of their doorstep when she went inside the home momentarily. Police immediately searched that house but they did not find the boy.
However, investigators found that Alicia Lawson and her partner Shatika Lawson lied during the initial investigation. They discovered that they were bathing Malachi on July 23, 2019, because he “soiled himself,” They put the baby in the bathtub while washing his clothes.

Suspects Pleaded Guilty
In 2021, Alicia Lawson pleaded guilty to the charges filed against her. These are the following:
- child abuse resulting in death
- first-degree child abuse
- neglect of a minor
- second-degree murder
She was sentenced to life imprisonment and a judge also sentenced her to five years probation. Meanwhile, Shatika Lawson also pleaded guilty on May 12 and faced the same charges. She also faces life in prison, according to a report published in PEOPLE.
