Pomona High School in Colorado denied accountability despite two suspects that trespassed and attacked a student inside the campus. This incident stirred up discussions about campus safety, especially on policies that allow students to move around during free periods.

A surveillance footage revealed two suspects entering Pomona High School in Arvada, Colorado despite being prevented by a security guard. The suspects were seen evading her and advancing toward their target. Nonetheless, the Jeffco Public School District stated that the security guard followed protocols although admitting to the security breach.

According to Sullivan, the Pomona High School administrators eventually intervened and were able to end the altercation. In addition, an officer from the Arvada Police Department also arrived on the scene within two minutes.

Improving Pomona High School’s Safety

According to Matthew, one of the two suspects was a juvenile and was captured at Pomona High School. The second suspect, on the other hand, was reportedly an 18-year-old man. Further reports say both suspects are expected to be charged of trespassing and assault as verified by the Arvada Police.

Consequently, the incident stirred up discussions about campus safety, especially on policies that concerned opening Pomona High School for students to be able to move around during free periods. Nonetheless, Jeff Pierson, executive director of safety for Jeffco Public School District, stated that measures to improve safety on the open campus are being evaluated to lessen risks in the future.
