A woman is seen in the camera footage that she was stealing a car from the Crestwood car dealership manager’s lot and the manager was nearly hit by the thief.
The Your Choice Autos Crestwood Incident
Mahmoud Elsayed, manager of Your Choice Autos Crestwood detailed the incident that occurred at his workplace. Elsayed said that on Thursday afternoon an unidentified woman visited his dealership and was eyeing a Cadillac sedan.
The ABC7 news reported that a video shows that the woman can be seen entering the Autos Crestwood office when all the employees are out and Elsayed is also headed to the back room with vehicle keys, unaware someone is in the office.
The woman was looking for the Cadillac sedan keys and then when she finds it she took the whole bunch. Elsayed went out from the back room and so as the woman back there. Moreover, when the woman has the key she is eventually able to enter the Cadillac.
At that moment Elsayed, who has pulled a car around for a customer, realizes something is wrong as the Cadillac backs up. That’s when the commotion happens. Elsayed said that he was able to make eye contact with the thief and he was trying to stop the woman but still, she was persistent in pushing the gas. Elsayed had no choice but to jump before the woman ran him over.
Your Choice Autos Crestwood Experienced Several Carjacking Incidents
Elsayed confirmed that within the past few months, there have been at least a handful of thefts within his auto group, including an armed carjacking of a vehicle during a test drive in Posen.
However, the stolen Cadillac sedan was later retrieved on the side of the Borman Expressway near Gary. Currently, Elsayed is planning some ways to prevent the carjacking incident in his shop again.
Elsayed said the incident has prompted changes at his dealership to ensure keys are secure.
