On Wednesday, an Idaho man who traveled in a car with loaded weapons and dangled from a Senate balcony was sentenced to 15 months in prison, Fox News reported.
Idaho Man Dangled From Senate Balcony During Rally
Josiah Colt was sentenced to 15 months in prison for obstructing Congress‘s certification of Joe Biden‘s victory. According to court records, a man who helped Colt in a rental car with two pistols, body armor, knives, and other gear was also sentenced to about 3 years in prison. Nathaniel DeGrave from Las Vegas pleaded guilty to conspiracy and assault charges last year as he also entered the Senate gallery.
Prosecutors said that the group of Colt came to Washington prepared for any violence and to stop lawmakers from certifying the 2020 results of the election.
According to authorities, the Idaho man, Josiah Colt, brought his pistol the day before the riot and leave it at a hotel. The 3 men watched Donal Trump on TV and told his supporters before the riot, “Fight like hell”!
After the riot, the capitol was entered by angry men through the Upper West Terrace doors and went to a hallway outside the Senate gallery. Josiah Colt sits in the chair of former Vice President Mike Pence and rioters cheered for him as he raised his fist. He even opened a door and dozens joined him.
Idaho Man And Other Rioters Have Been Charged
More than 1,000 have been charged and nearly 500 of them have been sentenced. More than half will receive terms of imprisonment that is ranging from 7 days to 14 years and 2 months.
Colt and DeGrave’s lawyers said in court papers that they are just victims of terrible choices and misinformation.
Overall, an Idaho man, Josiah Colt, and other rioters were sentenced because of their actions during a rally that attempted to stop certifying Joe Biden’s win.
