Up To $500 Guaranteed Income Program

In less than a month, recipients of a guaranteed income program in El Monte, California will start to receive monthly payments of up to $500, Washington Examiner reported.

This is a yearlong program that aims to help mothers in El Monte pay for their goods and services at any location where credit cards work because the monthly payment will be issued in a debit card. If there are mothers who don’t know how to use debit cards, the city will be providing training on how to use debit cards.

El Monte, California is home to more than 100,000 people. Recipients of the guaranteed income program are selected through a randomized lottery last April and a total of 25 recipients were chosen to be eligible for the program. The city will load $500 every month on each recipient’s debit card.

Payments for the program are anticipated to be sent on June 1.

Guaranteed Income Program Eligibility

To be eligible for the program, recipients must be a resident of El Monte, California, a single female head of household with no partner or spouse in the house, and have children younger than 17.

Applicants to the program also need to verify their income below the poverty line and must be able to show need assistance because of the COVID pandemic and must submit needed documents like proof of income, government-issued ID, proof of residency, and school enrollment of children.

The application was opened last March 27 and was closed on April 15.
