The Pathway to Income Equity is a Guaranteed Income Pilot program in Sonoma County, California. This program intends to distribute $500 worth of payments to 305 households every month. These recipients will be chosen among the 6,450 households that have submitted their applications. The next distribution of monthly payments is scheduled on May 17.

According to Notheis, the Guaranteed Income Pilot program is part of an experiment to discover whether guaranteed income affects the families in need in Sonoma County. The chairman of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Chris Coursey states that the payments intend to help families with children that struggle with both the high costs of child care and housing.

Coursey added that the number of applications received for the Guaranteed Income Pilot program entails that several households in Sonoma County are struggling. Reportedly, qualitative research like interviews, surveys, and focus groups are conducted to evaluate the participants of the program for more than two years now. By the spring of 2024 and early 2025, it is expected that a preliminary and final report will be published, respectively.
