On April 20, U.S. President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed over the phone to confirm that both countries shared the same geopolitical vision. The discussion came after the French president visited China with other European officials. Macron reportedly stated in an interview that Europe must not become a follower of the U.S. on Taiwan.According to an article in Deutsche Welle, on the subject matter of Taiwan, Macron stated that Europe must avoid issues that are not theirs. The French president reiterated the strategic autonomy policies of the European Union. He also called for Europe to become the geopolitical “third pole” against the United States and China.

Peace Across Taiwan Strait
An article in the US News states that Biden and Macron discussed the French president’s recent travel to China and the continuous efforts to improve the security, prosperity, and international rules in the Indo-Pacific region.
More importantly, both leaders reaffirmed maintaining the peace and order across the Taiwan Strait. China reportedly considers Taiwan as its territory and has administered military drills around the island. In addition, Biden and Macron also reiterated their constant support for Ukraine against the brutal aggression of Russia.
