The residents of the city of El Monte in Los Angeles County, California are expected to receive $500 worth of checks every month. These payments come from the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program launched by the city for the female heads of households with no spouse or partner around.

According to Weiss, residents may submit their applications for the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program payments online, through mail, or in person until April 15. These applicants will then be randomly chosen to first confirm their eligibility before receiving the monthly payments. Eligibility for the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program

According to Notheis, to be eligible for the Guaranteed Income Pilot Program, applicants must have resided in the city of El Monte and have children between the ages of 0 to 17 living with them. In addition, they must earn an income at or below the federal poverty line and must and must be in need of a financial assistance because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This means that the applicants will be required to submit documents that will verify their proof of residency, income, and school enrollment. These documents include a driver’s license or a utility bill under the applicant’s name, the school enrollment form of the applicant’s child, a paycheck stub, and IDs issued by the government such as passport, resident alien card, and more.)
