Houston Nurse’s Defense Claims She May Have Had a Seizure During Fatal LA Crash That Killed Six People

A traveling nurse from Houston who was involved in a deadly car accident in Los Angeles last August may have had a seizure while driving, according to her lawyer.

Nicole Linton’s attorney argued that her client might have had a seizure when she crashed into several cars, killing six people.

Nicole Linton, 37, was allegedly driving at 130 mph and went through a red light at a Los Angeles intersection in August. The accident resulted in a fiery wreck that killed six people and injured several others, according to the New York Post.

The crash was caught on surveillance video and has been described as one of the most gruesome scenes on Los Angeles streets in recent years. Among the victims were Asherey Ryan, her unborn child, her 11-month-old son, and her fiancé, Reynolds Lester. Two other women were also killed.

The crash involved Linton’s Mercedes-Benz and several other vehicles. Linton is charged with six counts of murder and five counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence in connection with the crash. If convicted, she could face life in prison. LA County District Attorney George Gascón described the incident as a senseless loss of innocent lives, causing catastrophic damage to the families and friends of those killed and injured, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Linton’s Mental Health Issues

According to Linton’s attorney, Sparagna, her client was incapacitated by a seizure when the crash occurred. According to a report by The Daily Horn, Sparagna denied the misinformation that Linton was under the influence of alcohol or drugs or that she had a history of multiple car accidents. She added that Lynn wasn’t in a fight with her boyfriend or suicidal. Linton, on the other hand, was suffering from mental health concerns that resulted in a seizure.

The family of Nicole Linton created a website called “Nicole’s Story,” documenting her struggles with mental health and referring to the accident as a tragic event that did not happen on purpose. The preliminary hearing is scheduled to examine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial.
