The United States Social Security Administration has announced that some Social Security beneficiaries may receive an extra payment with their last check of the month. The payment will be sent to all retirees, whether they are survivors, orphans, or for any other reason, within the next week. Based on an article by Investopedia on December 31, 2022, the payment is determined by the retiree’s birthday, and those born between the 21st and 31st of the month will receive the next Social Security payment.
Recipients who also have Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will receive double the money at the end of the month, and the extra SSI payment will be sent on the last day of March. To be eligible for the extra payment, the retiree must have previously accepted the benefit and meet the conditions, which include being 65 years of age or older, having a disability, and having low income or low resources.
The seven states that have not increased supplemental security income benefits at all are Arizona, Arkansas, Mississippi, North Dakota, Tennessee, West Virginia, and the Northern Mariana Islands, as reported by NCOA on February 13, 2023. If you live in any of these states, you will see that there is no boost associated with your Supplemental Security Income check. According to the SSA, the maximum SSI amount is $914, and this amount cannot increase any further in 2023.
On a totally exceptional basis, the Social Security Administration will send an extra Supplemental Security Income payment to all beneficiaries in March, which is an advance payment for the month of April. The COLA announcement will occur in October of this year, and according to experts, this increase will be around 3%. To receive Supplemental Security Income payments, retirees must use one of two official methods: bank account deposit or direct deposit.
