All benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA) have requirements for applicants to be eligible for them. This means that to receive the monthly payments, the applicants must meet the eligibility requirements. If not, the SSA may discontinue issuing the monthly checks that contain the payments.

For instance, according to Quirós Villalba, the retirement benefits require the applicants to be at least 62 years old. However, the SSI Monthly Payment 2023, on the other hand, can be received only by the beneficiaries whose families need financial assistance the most.

Why SSI Monthly Payment 2023 may be discontinued?

An article on the Muse Disability website states that the SSI Monthly Payment 2023 can be received only by a limited group of beneficiaries. This means that beneficiaries who are aged below 65 cannot be eligible for the monthly payments. However, beneficiaries who are over 65 can receive the monthly payments only if they have disabilities.

The first reason why a beneficiary may stop receiving the SSI Monthly Payment 2023 is if the monthly income of a household exceeds the monthly income threshold. Again, the monthly payments can be received only by the neediest families. Therefore, a beneficiary may stop receiving these payments when they go over the maximum income threshold.
The second reason why a beneficiary may stop receiving the SSI Monthly Payment 2023 is if they are incarcerated. Like any other Social Security benefit, being imprisoned will immediately stop a beneficiary from receiving the monthly payments. Sometimes, the payments will resume being issued upon the release of the beneficiary from prison. However, there are also times when they will be permanently discontinued.

Lastly, a beneficiary may also stop receiving the monthly payments if they did not fill out all the paperwork accurately. If there are any mistakes or errors in the documents, the SSA may decide to discontinue the issuance of the monthly payments to the beneficiaries.
