According to Nesbit, since the first day of April 2023 falls on a Saturday, the payments scheduled for that day will be issued on March 31 instead. This means that the SSI beneficiaries will receive a double payment to be issued on March 1 and March 31. In addition, beneficiaries who received Social Security benefits before May 1997 will also receive payments on March 3.

Double Payment in Other Months
According to Heilman, aside from the month of March, the SSI beneficiaries will also receive a double payment in the months of June, September, and December. This is because of the same reason that the first day in the months of January, April, July, and October fall on either a weekend or a holiday. This double payment can be considered as an advance payment for the following month.
However, if the scheduled payments will not be received on the expected date, the SSA advises to allow three mailing days to pass before contacting the agency. Direct deposit payments are expected to be received on the expected date, but sometimes the schedule depends on the bank.
