Residents in a dozen US states are still waiting for their stimulus payments, despite their approval in 2022. Nearly 20 states approved payments in one form or another in 2022, with California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia all having payment information available on their state government websites.
Payments range from $50 to $850, depending on state and eligibility. Some states, such as Delaware, are still accepting applications for stimulus payments, with a 30-day application period ending November 30. For those who haven’t yet received their payment, it may still be in the mail, with many states issuing checks on a rolling basis throughout the year and into early 2023, as reported by Yahoo on February 14, 2023.
Residents should check their state government websites for information on when to expect their stimulus payment. California residents who are eligible for middle-class tax refund payments of up to $1,050 may still be waiting for direct deposits to be made through Nov. 14. Debit card payments will be accepted until January 14, 2023. Colorado residents who filed for a tax extension will receive physical checks of up to $750 or $1,500 for joint fillers through Jan. 31, 2023.
Illinois is issuing two rebates, one for $50 and another for $300, and the first checks went out on Sept. 12 “and will take several months to be issued.” Indiana authorized two tax refunds—one for $125 and another for $200 for single filers. Those who qualified only for the $200 refund won’t receive a payment and must claim it as a tax credit when they file their taxes next year.
