Critical Relief: State-Led Stimulus Efforts Keep Americans Afloat

Many American citizens have been waiting for stimulus checks from the federal government since the American Rescue Plan Act was signed into law in 2021, but with the lack of bipartisan support, they may not receive the funds they need any time soon. However, there is good news for those who are in need of financial support.

A number of states are continuing to provide financial relief to their residents, with this trend set to continue into 2023.

California has sent most of its payments, but around 5% of eligible citizens are still waiting. The final payments, up to $1,050, will be sent by the end of March.

Colorado will send payments of up to $1,500 for joint filers and $750 for single tax filers by Jan. 31, 2023, due to delayed tax return submissions.

In Idaho, the payments will be 10% of the tax return amount, or $300 or $600 for single or joint filers.

New Jersey residents can receive up to $1,500 for homeowners and $450 for renters.

In South Carolina, eligible residents can receive payments of up to $800, with those filing by Oct. 17, 2022, getting paid in 2023 and those filing by Feb. 15, 2023, getting paid in March of 2023.

It is important for residents to check their state’s rules to determine eligibility for stimulus funds and stay informed about available financial support.

The information for each state was based on a report written by Christy Bieber on December 16, 2023.
