2023 Stimulus Payments: Seven States Including California to Receive Rebates

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that stimulus payments or rebates may still be received by residents of seven states, including California and six others, in 2023. However, there will not be any additional stimulus payments in 2023 as no economic impact payments were made in 2022, based on a report by Scott McDonald of News Week on January 24, 2023.

The states and their respective rebates are as follows:

California

Residents who made less than $500,000 in 2020 and filed their income taxes by October 15, 2021, are eligible for the state’s Middle Class Tax Refund. As of January 13, 2023, over $9 billion in stimulus funds had been distributed to 31,650,087 California taxpayers.

Colorado

Individual filers can receive a rebate of $750, and joint filers can receive $1,500.

Idaho

Residents who filed in 2020 and 2021 are eligible for either 10% of their tax return or $300, whichever is greater.

Illinois

Residents may receive two rebates, one for income and one for property taxes, with a rate of return between $50 and $100.

New Mexico

Residents have started receiving rebates spread out over three payments, while those who haven’t received them yet have until May to file their 2021 tax return.

Pennsylvania

Residents can receive a maximum standard rebate of $650 or $975 for supplemental rebates.

South Carolina

Residents who file their 2021 state income tax return by February 15 are eligible for the state’s $1 billion rebate.
