A man committed murder and then took his own life in Waikele and the Ala Moana Hotel, respectively, according to the police. The victim, Johnalynn Ilae, 36, was found dead in a Waikele apartment with her wrists tied and was later determined to have died from strangulation. The suspected killer, Frank Camaro, 46, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Ilae and Camaro were known to each other through Camaro’s wife, as reported by Yahoo on January 30, 2023.
On Thursday, the two individuals met at White Plains Beach, where they “discussed things” in Camaro’s vehicle. They later drove to a relative’s apartment in Waikele, where an altercation took place over “some family matters.” During the altercation, Camaro gained control over Ilae and strangled her to death. He then left Waikele and went to the Ala Moana Hotel, where he was later found dead.
The cause of death was reported to the police through the use of digital devices. Although a TV reporter asked if the police were looking into the possibility of a love triangle, the police declined to confirm any such details. The Ala Moana Hotel did not respond to a request for comment.
The tragic event has left the community in shock, and the police continue to investigate the case to uncover the full details of what happened. The loss of two lives is a reminder of the importance of addressing mental health issues and the need for a supportive community.
