Local News in Michigan: A Man Got Shot-to-Dead After Causing An Helicopter To Fire

State troopers in Michigan shot and killed a man on Tuesday night after he pointed a laser at a police helicopter and started firing, according to authorities.

The man, who has been identified as a 33-year-old from the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Detroit, was residing in an abandoned house at the time.

According to surveillance footage of the incident released by the police, the victim began aiming a laser at the police helicopter through a window in the residence around 8:30 p.m.

A green laser was being fired at them through the upper window of the back window of the house, the helicopter’s pilot reported to dispatch. At the back door, there is a person waiting. They’re out back right now. It’s possible that he is armed. In this moment, he almost seems to be pointing a long gun at them. They are being fired upon by him as he fires shots and his gun and magazine are both long.

Two state troopers arrived at the house, and as soon as they did, the suspect was shot and killed. The police did not immediately disclose how many shots were fired during that confrontation between the suspect and the officers, according to an article published by Fox News on January 26, 2023.

Police discovered five firearms in the house, one of which was in the suspect’s possession.

Both the two state troopers and the helicopter escaped unharmed from gunfire. While the incident is investigated by the prosecutor, they have been placed on leave.

Prior to the investigation, the two troopers and the suspect’s identities were kept confidential.
