Fighting High Prices: States Offer Tax Rebates to Help Citizens – See if Your Eligible

American citizens have been receiving relief payments to help cope with the high costs of living, and this will continue in the coming week. The inflation rate has been high for the past year, making it difficult for consumers to manage. In response, various cities and states have been offering tax rebates to provide aid for high prices, based on a report by The US Sun on January 13, 2023.

Two states that will be sending out relief next week are Alaska and Idaho. In Alaska, residents fill out an application for a Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), which provides them with a portion of profits from oil revenues. For 2022, the PFD is worth $3,284. The Department of Revenue announced a schedule for disbursing payments to certain groups that are still awaiting their 2022 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD).

In Idaho, residents are receiving rebates between $300 and $600, depending on their filing status. In order to be eligible for a rebate, individuals must have submitted their 2020 and 2021 tax returns by December 31, 2022. The Idaho Tax Commission said it is sending out roughly 75,000 rebates per week and expects to issue 800,000 payments by March 31.

Another state sending out rebates is California, according to a report by CNET on January 5, 2023. The Middle Class Tax Refund for taxpayers is worth between $200 and $1,050 depending on filing status, income, and dependents. To be eligible, California residents must have filed their 2020 tax returns by October 15, 2021.
