$10 Million Pot: Last Chance for K-Cup Users to Claim Cash

There is a limited time left to claim money from a class action lawsuit against Keurig Dr Pepper, which was filed in 2018 for alleged false advertising about the recyclability of its products, according to an article published by CBS News on July 11, 2019. Keurig makes K-Cups, which are single-serving coffee pods designed for specific coffee machines. They are made of plastic and advertised as “recyclable,” but a complaint alleges that this is misleading because most municipal recycling facilities are not equipped to process such small materials, as stated in an article published by The U.S. Sun on January 8, 2023.

A lawsuit claimed that Keurig’s products end up in landfills and cannot be recycled, with studies showing that over 90% of plastic is not recycled. Keurig denies the claims but reached a $10 million settlement, resulting in customer refunds. However, there is less than 48 hours left to claim these refunds.

To qualify for the refund, customers must have purchased single-serving K-Cups labeled as “recyclable” in the US between June 8, 2016 and August 8, 2022. Customers with proof of purchase will receive a higher refund, ranging from a minimum of $6 to a maximum of $36 per household. The refund is equal to 35 cents for every 10 pods or $3.50 for every 100 pods purchased.

Americans who are eligible for the refund have until Monday, January 9 at 11:59 Pacific Time to file a claim online or by mailing a claim form to the specified address. According to research, 27% of coffee drinkers in the US use a Keurig brewing system, so many people may be eligible for a refund.
