Get $500 in Chicago Aid! Don’t Miss the Extended Application Deadline – Here’s What You Need to Know

Eligible residents of Chicago can now apply for a new $500 cash assistance program with an extended deadline.

According to the Chicago Department of Family and Support Services in an article published on Chicago’s website on February 22, 2022, residents have until December 31st to apply for the program.

Chicago is offering a one-time payment of $500 through a program called Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0. This program is for people who may not have received COVID-19 stimulus payments and is meant to provide financial assistance.

According to the city’s website, the fund is designed to help residents who had trouble getting federal relief payments, like COVID-19 Relief Funds, in 2020.

This round of payments is for residents who have adult dependents or are caregivers for adults.

To apply, qualified residents can go to the Association House Chicago or the Chinese Mutual Aid Foundation and fill out an online application. Recipients will be selected through a lottery and will need to provide proof of eligibility. One application per household is only allowed.

According to the city, it is expected that more than 4,000 winners will be chosen, and there are still over 2,000 awards available for residents.

To be qualified, residents must live in Chicago, be 18 or older, have a household income of 300% or below the Federal Poverty Level, have filed taxes in 2019 and claimed a dependent 17 years or older. The income threshold for the program depends on the number of people in the household, with a maximum of $139,890 for a household of 8.

For households with more than 8 members, you can add $4,720 for each additional person to determine your eligibility for Chicago Resiliency Fund 2.0.
