December 8 marks the one-year anniversary of the homicide of Carolyn Richards in El Dorado, Arkansas. Richards was found dead inside her apartment at the Haygood Neal Garden Apartments. The cause of death was determined to be a homicide, based on the report of Scarlett Gully.
According to investigators, there are currently no suspects in the case. However, they are hopeful that any tips from the public may help to close the case. In the days following Richards’ death, her daughter started receiving threatening messages from an unknown Facebook page. The messages included “F my mom” and “F my birthday”.
The El Dorado Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. Sergeant Scott Hines stated that the department is “committed to bringing closure and justice to the Richards family, and we hope that this reward will encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
The community has also come together to support the Richards family and to honor Carolyn Richards’ memory. A candlelight vigil was held on the one-year anniversary of her death, and a memorial garden has been established at the Haygood Neal Garden Apartments where she lived. The garden includes a bench and a plaque with Richards’ name and a message of love and support.
The investigation into Richards’ death is ongoing and are more focused on the lead relating to the cyber attack involving her daughter.
