$300 and $3,600 Direct Payments Americans Can Avail During this Holiday

This holiday season, millions of Americans can claim direct payments worth up to $3,600. Some of this money is available on the federal level, while other cash is available on the local level, according to Anthony Russo.

Based on Mike  Winters, states like Chicago, Hawaii, Idaho, New Jersey, and New York City are some of the states offering cash payments to eligible residents this holiday season.

Chicago residents can apply for $500 cash under the Resiliency Fund 2.0 program until December 31 at 5 pm. To be eligible, residents must be over 18 and have an income at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. The program is expected to provide a boost to 25,500 residents.

Hawaii is offering rebates of up to $300 to residents who file their 2021 tax returns by December 31. To qualify, residents must have lived in the state for at least nine months, not have spent time in jail during the tax year, and not be claimed as a dependent.

In September, Idaho Governor Brad Little passed legislation granting $500 million in tax refunds to residents. Individual filers can expect to receive $300, and joint filers can expect to receive $600 or 10% of their 2020 income taxes, whichever is greater. To be eligible for the rebates, tax returns must be filed by December 31.

New Jersey is offering payments of up to $1,500 for homeowners and $450 for renters through the ANCHOR program. To be eligible, residents must have owned or rented a home on October 1, 2019, filed or been exempt from state taxes, and meet income requirements.

New York City is offering a one-time payment of $1,200 to eligible residents. To be eligible, residents must have lived in NYC for at least one year, have an income at or below certain thresholds, and not be dependent on someone else’s tax return. The deadline to apply is December 15.
