18-Wheeler Chase From Louisiana Into Mississippi Ends in Arrest

South Carolina Man Arrested After Multi-County High-Speed Pursuit in Mississippi

A South Carolina man was arrested early Sunday morning after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase in an 18-wheeler that spanned multiple Mississippi counties. The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department reported that the incident began around 12:19 a.m. on December 22 when they were alerted that a semi-truck, previously evading Louisiana State Police, was heading westbound on I-20 from Scott County into Rankin County.

Deputies located the truck near the 56-mile marker and observed it swerving dangerously across lanes. When an officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, prompting a pursuit. The situation intensified as officers from the Pearl Police Department deployed spike strips near the 52-mile marker. Although the truck struck the strips, it continued westbound, weaving through the cities of Jackson and Clinton before eventually coming to a stop.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the driver barricaded himself inside the cab, requiring officers to break the driver’s window to take him into custody. The suspect was identified as 30-year-old David Sergey Pozdnyakov of Duncan, South Carolina.

Pozdnyakov faces several charges, including:

  • Felony Fleeing
  • Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
  • Disobeying a Police Officer
  • Careless Driving

He is currently being held without bond at the Rankin County Detention Center. Authorities confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges may be filed in both Mississippi and Louisiana.
