An arrest has been made following a fatal shooting in Alamogordo on Saturday, December 14, 2024, according to AlamogordoTownNews.org. At approximately 6:04 pm that evening, officers from the Alamogordo Police Department responded to reports of gunshots at the Desert View Mobile Home Park, located at 904 S. Florida Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a 46-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to save his life by officers and emergency medical responders, the man succumbed to his injuries.
The 12th Judicial District Major Crimes Unit, which includes investigators from the Alamogordo Police Department, Otero County Sheriff’s Office, 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Ruidoso Police Department, and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, quickly took over the investigation. Following leads from the Alamogordo Police Department Patrol Division, a person of interest was identified.

The Major Crimes Unit, with the help of the Otero County Sheriff’s Deputies and Alamogordo Police officers, located and apprehended the suspect at a residence in Vista Verde Mobile Home Park, 3050 Hwy. 54 South. The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Ty Huntington of Alamogordo, was arrested and charged with an open count of murder and tampering with evidence. He was processed and booked into the Otero County Detention Center and is awaiting his court appearance.
Huntington has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2014, with prior convictions including contributing to the delinquency of a minor, battery, forced entry, probation violation, and attempted escape from jail. He now faces serious charges in connection with the recent murder.
