Shakira Johnson, a 26-year-old woman, is facing charges of simple assault and disturbing the peace.
Johnson officially became a member of the Starkville Police Department in May, as stated on the department’s Facebook page.
On Sunday, December 15, just after midnight, deputies from the Oktibbeha County sheriff’s office were called to Lilac Street in response to a reported assault.
Johnson has been released on a $2,000 bond.
The Starkville Police released a statement regarding the incident.
The Starkville Police Department is aware that one of its officers has been arrested by the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office.
