A Florida Inmate Gave Birth To A’miracle Baby’ After Getting Pregnant Through An Air Vent

A Florida murder suspect has made news for claiming she conceived a baby while in jail, referring to her daughter as a “miracle baby.” Daisy Link, 29, currently incarcerated at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center for the suspected murder of her husband in 2022, asserts that she used an unconventional method to conceive her child with fellow inmate Joan Depaz, 23.

According to reports, the two inmates, who had never met face-to-face, managed to establish a romantic relationship by communicating through the air conditioning vents in their respective cells. Their supposed scheme involved Depaz sending his semen wrapped in plastic through the vent system, with Link providing a detailed account of the method during an interview with WSVN.

The method behind the ‘miracle baby’

Depaz shared how the process worked. “I put the semen in Saran Wrap every day, like five times a day, for like a month straight,” he explained. According to Link, she would retrieve the package using a makeshift line made of tied bedsheets.

“He would kind of roll it up almost like a cigarette and he would attach it to the line that we had in the vent and I would pull it through. From there, I had placed it inside of the yeast infection applicators. I had placed it inside of there and then from there I administered it.”

Link welcomed a baby girl in June, and her family is currently taking care of her outside the prison. She affectionately describes her child as a “blessing” and a “miracle baby.”

Depaz compares the situation to the Virgin Mary

Depaz, who is currently awaiting trial for murder, vehemently denied any physical contact with Link. He went as far as comparing her to the Virgin Mary, stating that their unconventional method of conception allowed them to avoid direct contact.

The story has ignited a great deal of curiosity and sparked a lively debate about the conditions in prisons, the relationships between inmates, and the extremes that individuals are willing to go to in order to fulfill their personal desires.

Awaiting trial and parenting challenges

Both Link and Depaz are currently in custody as they await their separate trials. Despite the humanizing aspect brought about by their romantic relationship and the birth of their child, the weight of their legal battles cannot be ignored.

Legal experts and family advocates continue to engage in ongoing discussions regarding the child’s future care and upbringing, as well as the legal implications of their actions.
