A newly released video to the FOX 8 I-Team reveals the chaotic scene that unfolded when a large group of dirt bikers took over downtown Cleveland, resulting in injuries to a police officer.
Surveillance footage from a City of Cleveland camera shows dozens of dirt bikes converging on the Detroit-Superior Bridge, even as police officers were present with their emergency lights flashing. Body camera footage from the police captures the moment officers arrested one rider who allegedly hit and dragged a patrolman during the incident.
This event took place in July, and the recently released footage illustrates the disorder, with dirt bikes swarming the bridge despite the police presence. In the video, officers are seen pursuing and apprehending one rider attempting to flee on his dirt bike. As he is taken to the ground, he can be heard apologizing, saying, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. I just landed on my throttle, and it just went. I’m sorry. I did not mean that. I just landed on my throttle, and it just took off.”
Cuyahoga County prosecutors have since indicted Andrew Fusco in connection with the incident, and records indicate that he is pleading not guilty. A hearing is scheduled for mid-November to address the charges.
