Los Alamos Police are seeking information regarding recent incidents of political sign vandalism and theft.
On Thursday, the department released a video showing a man defacing a “Trump-Vance” sign by pasting a swastika on it. Police report that this incident occurred on Tuesday morning along Trinity Drive. Later that evening, surveillance footage captured someone, accompanied by a child, removing the same sign.
Since mid-September, police have received five reports of political signs being vandalized, tampered with, or stolen, affecting both major parties. “We want to protect everyone’s right to free speech and ensure people can express their support peacefully,” said Deputy Chief James Rodriguez of Los Alamos Police.
While no politically related violence has been reported, police are offering a $200 reward for information leading to the resolution of these cases.
