Wilbert Howard of Loveland Police Department has been arrested, accused of second-degree assault and child abuse, Thursday afternoon.
Loveland Police Officer Arrested On Suspicion Of Child Abuse, Assault
A 17-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department, Wilbert Howard 53 years old was arrested by the Fort Collins Police on Thursday on suspicion of assault and child abuse.
9News reported, that according to the Loveland Police Department that the reported incident took place in a home in Fort Collins, and police there were notified about it on November 2.
Moreover, the Loveland Police Department mentioned in a news release that after an investigation, Howard was off-duty at the time of the reported incident. Loveland Police also stated that they are not releasing further information due to legal protections regarding victims under 18 years old.
The Wilbert Howard Crimes Is Not Connected With His Duties As A Police Officer
The release said the reported incident does not connect with Wilbert Howard’s official duties as a police officer. He was booked at the Larimer County Jail on the following charges:
- Second-degree assault, a felony
- Child abuse, a misdemeanor
- Crime of violence enhancement
Wilbert Howard, was placed on administrative leave and an internal investigation is underway, police said. Fort Collins Police Services is the lead agency in the investigation.
