On Thursday, a man arrested in Gainesville on 12 counts of child pornography possession after cyber tip led investigators to his home.

WCJB reported that a man arrested in Gainesville, Robert Godwin, 70, has been taken into custody on 12 counts of child pornography possession following a cyber tip that led authorities to his residence. The man arrested in Gainesvill is currently held without bond at the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began after the Gainesville Police Department received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, pointing to a Microsoft Bing Image user sharing two images of child sexual abuse.
Subsequent investigation traced the source of these images to Godwin, the man arrested in Gainesville, address at 1055 NE 13th Place.

According to The Independent Florida, Microsoft reported the upload of two images containing child sexual abuse material on Bing Image. The company confirmed this as the sole information about the user in their systems. They also provided the upload IP address and timestamp for the images, which occurred on Wednesday at 2:59 a.m. and 3:44 a.m. One of the images depicted a nude prepubescent female in explicit poses, according to the arrest report.
Following an IP address check, law enforcement traced it back to Cox Communications. Subsequently, they subpoenaed Cox Communications to obtain Godwin’s address, as detailed in the arrest affidavit. Upon his arrest, Godwin, man arrested in Gainesville, apologized to his wife.
The forensic analysis of Godwin’s computer is pending, and some of devices of the man arrested in Gainesville have not yet been searched, as mentioned in the arrest report.
