A recent legal analysis by the agency of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command revealed that China’s military is increasing the dangerous aerial intercepts of U.S. military planes in Asia. The agency’s report further disclosed that the People’s Liberation Army aircraft conducted unusually close approaches and reckless maneuvers and violated aviation norms and standards.According to Gertz, the dangerous intercepts of U.S. military planes may lead to an international crisis as they neglect international laws and create crucial risks of accidents, collisions, and even deaths. Furthermore, the agency’s report reflects the opinions of senior U.S. generals who claim that U.S. military planes being intercepted is intensifying the risk of conflict.

Lack of Response from China
However, according to Fitzgerald, Pacific Air Forces Commander and Senior Air Force General Kenneth S. Wilsbach stated that upon calling out China on the dangerous intercepts, the East Asian country is allegedly not willing to discuss the issue. Further reports say the state media of China labelled the surveillance of the U.S. military planes in the international airspace as a breach of security and sovereignty.
