Wilsbach’s statement reportedly only requests the Chinese military to execute the intercepts safely and professionally to avoid miscalculation.
Chinese Intercepting U.S. Military Planes
According to Fitzgerald, Wilsbach stated that there are incidents where U.S. military planes are intercepted that The Pentagon considers dangerous. The U.S. and its allies have publicly revealed the dangerous incidents, but unfortunately, China was not willing to have a discussion about the matter.
Reports say China insists that most of the South China Sea where U.S. military planes fly is the East Asian country’s territory and the U.S. is to be blamed for the intercepts. Apart from this, the U.S. is also concerned about the Chinese military’s lack of high-level communication as military channels have been discontinued since November 2022.
