After making landfall along the state of Florida’s Big Bend as a Category 3 tropical cyclone and as a hurricane across the southeastern Georgia and the Carolinas on August 30, reports say Idalia was downgraded into a tropical storm.An article in USA Today states that as of August 31, at around 2 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Idalia was located 20 miles southwest of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina and heading northeast at 21 miles per hour with sustained winds of 60 miles per hour.
The National Hurricane Center announced that due to the tropical storm, river and flash floods will likely happen across Georgia and the eastern Carolinas. On the other hand, Governor Ron DeSantis stated that apart from the severe damages, reports of looting have also been recorded, to which emergency responders and law enforcement are deployed.

Updates on Tropical Storm Idalia
According to Saltzman, apart from updates about Idalia downgrading into a tropical storm while moving along the coasts of North Carolina and northeast of South Carolina as of August 30, the National Hurricane Center stated that all hurricane warnings have also been canceled. Nonetheless, despite the downgrade, utility tracker PowerOutage.us states that over 275,000 houses and businesses were without power in Florida.
