The Florida man driver is arrested after discovering a missing 16-year-old girl during a routine traffic stop in North Carolina and Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said that it is “a true case of child trafficking.”
A True Case Of Child Trafficking
A routine traffic stop that occurred in North Carolina prevented a true case of child trafficking after Deputies found the missing teen.
Alejandro Hernandez Vazquez, 40 years old had been arrested by Nash County Police Department after they became suspicious and realized that his 16-year-old female passenger had been reported missing by Florida’s Coral Springs Police Department only five hours earlier.
Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone stated that “This is a true case of child trafficking”, and the 16-year-old was only manipulated by Vazquez to bring her Vazquez, ABC news reported.
The Incident Of the Arrest Of Alejandro Hernandez Vazquez On July 4
On July 4, Deputies initially pulled over Alejandro Hernandez Vazquez at midnight after he committed a traffic violation in a 2016 Audi SUV on Interstate 95.
The release noted that the deputies developed reasonable suspicion to consider that criminal activity was ongoing after asking a series of frequent questions.
Moreover, Deputies later learned that Vazquez’s 16-year-old female passenger was reported missing by her family five hours earlier, according to the release. Officers also found and confiscated two THC vape pens in Vazquez’s car.
The teenage passenger was initially reported who run away in Florida, and currently, Deputies are in contact with the arresting agency, according to Coral Springs Police Capt. Gerald Irwin.
The investigation is still ongoing on whether any criminal acts occurred in our jurisdiction but it was reported that the teen appeared to be traveling willfully with Vazquez.
The 16-year-old was brought to Wake County Juvenile Detention Center where her family can pick her up, while Vazquez was in custody of Nash County Detention Center and held on a $500,000 bond.
Vazquez was charged with abduction of a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, felony possession of a synthetic cannabinoid, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, The Nash County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Vazquez’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 20.
