A tragic incident unfolded as a New York shooting spree left an 86-year-old man dead and three others injured. The incident occurred in Queens on Saturday, with police reporting that a man on a scooter was randomly shooting at people, CBS News reported.
New York Shooting, Suspect In Custody
According to Chief Joseph Kenny of the New York Police Department, a 25-year-old suspect is now in custody. The series of New York shootings began at around 11:10 a.m. when a 21-year-old Hispanic man was shot in the shoulder. Shortly after, the 86-year-old victim was shot in the back in the Richmond Hill area.
Unfortunately, the elderly man later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The gunman also targeted a 44-year-old Hispanic man, shooting him in the face. The victim was rushed to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Less than 10 minutes later and about a mile away, a 63-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and was taken to a nearby hospital. The police reported that he is in serious but stable condition.
The New York shooting suspect was apprehended around 1 p.m. without incident. Police identified that he was riding an illegal scooter without a license plate and was carrying a 9-mm pistol with an extended magazine.
