A New Jersey direct payment of up to $250 will be available to eligible recipients and will arrive in days from a guaranteed income program, Washington Examiner reported.
Up To $250 New Jersey Direct Payment
The program is called the Newark Movement for Economic Equity program and will send payments on July 1 to 200 out of 400 recipients worth $250. According to Newmark mayor’s press secretary, half of the recipients will receive smaller payments twice a month, the other half will receive larger once every six months.
A statement from Kevin Callaghan said that they have been supporting the residents to assist them with the COVID hospitalization and also their rent payments.
Data from the program reveals how recipients have been utilizing the funds. Approximately 41% of recipients spend the money at retail stores to purchase clothing, food, and other necessities, while 26% allocate their funds for groceries. Additionally, 10% of recipients use the funds for housing and utilities, and 9% allocate them for transportation and car expenses.
