An Ecuadoran woman who had been declared dead surprised her relatives by knocking on her coffin during her wake. After seven days, the 76-year-old Ecuadoran woman died according to the family, CBS News reported.
Ecuadoran Woman Knocked at Her Coffin?
The Ecuadoran woman, Bella Montoya was admitted with a cardiopulmonary arrest and possible stroke and was pronounced dead by the doctor after she didn’t respond to resuscitation.
After spending five hours in the coffin, the Ecuadoran woman woke up and knocks at her coffin on June 9 at a funeral home.
The death of Montoya was confirmed by Ecuador’s Ministry of Health. According to the ministry, she died because of an ischemic stroke and spent a week in intensive care. She was put into permanent surveillance but sadly, the ministry didn’t provide further information about her medical history.
According to the ministry, a technical committee was formed to assess how the hospital issue the death certificates.
The sister of Montoya seeks to identify who is the doctor who declared Montoya dead. The sister had formally complained. On the other hand, the son of Montoya confirmed that he hadn’t received any report about the medical explanation and what happened.

Ecuadoran Woman’s Remains and Similar Cases
The Ecuadoran woman’s remains are back at the funeral home, her son confirmed that she will be buried at a public cemetery.
The same incident has happened in the United States recently in Iowa. A facility in Iowa mistakenly pronounced a 66-year-old dead and had the resident transported to a funeral home for embalming but the girl suddenly woke up and gasping for air. Last 2020, a young woman was also declared dead and opened her eyes as she was about to be embalmed.
