Immigrant officials confirmed on Sunday that the mother of the girl had previously said that U.S. Border agents had ignored her and begged for help for her daughter to be hospitalized. The girl had a history of sickle cell anemia and heart problems.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it confirms the girls’ medical history because the girl was treated four days before her death.

Mabel Alvarez Benedicks told that she begged and cried but agents didn’t do anything for her daughter.

CBP has taken steps to investigate the case and is waiting for results. CBP Acting Commissioner Troy Miller has ordered to ensure appropriate care for all fragile people who need medical attention in his agency’s custody.

Miller said that they will ensure that medically fragile individuals receive the best possible care in CBP custody. He also expresses his grief over the migrant girl’s death.

The U.S. Border Patrol Questioned

The tragic death of the migrant girl at the U.S. Border has raised questions. Reportedly, it was the second child migrant death in just two weeks.

In a CBP statement, the migrant girl Anadith had complained first of nasal congestion, cough, and abdominal pain on the afternoon of May 14. She undergoes several tests which showed she had influenza and was given medicine for nausea and Tamiflu, medicine for nausea, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen.
