A recent Brian Laundrie update reveals that on or around August 28, 2021, Brian, 23, had killed his fiancée, Gabrielle Petito, 22. Thereafter, Gabrielle’s family filed a lawsuit against Brian that accused him, his parents, and Steven Bertolino, their lawyer, that they have already known Gabrielle was dead on September 14.An article in CNN states that this is because, on the same day, Bertolino issued a statement on behalf of the Laundries, hoping that Gabrielle will soon be found and reunited with her family. However, on September 19, Gabrielle’s remains were reportedly found at a campsite around Jackson, Wyoming where she was last seen alive. On the other hand, Brian reportedly committed suicide in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park near the Laundries’ home in North Port, Florida.

According to Eberhart, a letter was allegedly written by Brian’s mom, Roberta, which referenced bringing a shovel to help bury a body and baking a cake with a Shiv if Brian goes to jail for Gabrielle’s death. In a court filing on May 5, the lawyers for Gabrielle’s family argued that it can be concluded that the letter was written when Gabrielle was not yet buried. Nonetheless, Roberta insisted that the events that happened between Gabrielle and Brian must not be reflected in the words in her letter.
