According to Reardon, New York Attorney General Letitia James, along with the attorneys general from the states of Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington announced the multi-state agreement with Intuit Inc. This means that all 50 states of the U.S. and the District of Columbia have agreed to sign the TurboTax settlement.

Who will qualify for the TurboTax settlement?
According to Mitchell, to be able to qualify for the TurboTax settlement, an individual must have used the services in the tax years 2016, 2017, or 2018 and were eligible to use the Intuit IRS Free File product. In addition, they must have also started their tax returns using the TurboTax Free Edition Product, but have been subsequently informed to pay due to ineligibility.
Throughout this month, individuals who are eligible for the TurboTax settlement are expected to receive a check in their emails from the settlement fund administrator. The settlement’s website states that the average amount to be received for each individual is between $29 and $30.
