On February 16, 2022, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a DoorDash driver, 46, who was delivering pizza being shot at by a customer. Upon investigating the crime scene, the authorities found that when the driver arrived with the ordered food, John Norman, 33, fired a shotgun through the door.

According to Wehner, however, Norman stated that he had only accidentally fired the shotgun when the female DoorDash driver arrived from West Bend. The authorities noticed the damage to Norman’s front door, especially the huge hole and pieces of the door that scattered outside the house.

Reports say Norman initially refused when the authorities ordered him to come out of his house and surrender. However, he eventually complied. Upon a closer look, the authorities noticed that Norman showed signs of being intoxicated and his eyes were extremely bloodshot. When his house was searched, the authorities discovered a 12-gauge shotgun on the floor near the couch, a loaded pistol, shells of shotgun, and more ammunition.

Agreed to Plea Deal

An article in the FOX6 News Milwaukee states that in January, Norman agreed to a plea deal that did not contest the first-degree recklessly endangering safety. As part of the plea deal, the charges faced by Norman of felony bail jumping was dismissed. Nonetheless, Norman was sentenced to five years in prison with an additional equal amount of extended supervision. In 2021, court documents revealed that Norman had come out of bond for second-degree recklessly endangering safety.
