In 2019, South Korean girl group BLACKPINK— composed of Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo— became the first K-Pop girl group to have ever performed at Coachella, which marked their first full concert in the U.S. On April 15, the global superstars made history once again as the first K-Pop artists to headline Coachella 2023.According to Munson, during their set in Coachella 2023, Rosé, the group’s main vocalist, shared that they were indeed invited to Coachella to perform at the Sahara tent four years ago. Jennie, the main rapper, added that she feels happy to be performing on the main stage four years later. Despite a technical issue, at around 9:30 p.m., the stage went dark and the quartet started performing as BLINKs’ lightsticks started to glow pink.

BLACKPINK’s Set at Coachella 2023
According to Havens, the global superstars opened their Coachella 2023 stage with a lethal performance of “Pink Venom”. Heavy pyrotechnics and sparks came next as the quartet performed “Kill This Love”, followed by “How You Like That”. Every song felt like the grand finale performance and the crowd’s energy is consistent as the group weaved through the discography of their EP “Square Two” and three full-length albums “BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA”, “THE ALBUM”, and the latest “BORN PINK”.
All throughout their historical set in Coachella 2023, Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo have done what they do best together as global superstars BLACKPINK and that is to give BLINKs a performance to remember. The quartet allowed every member a moment to shine on their own and their individuality be recognized as well, in one of the world’s biggest music festivals, no less.
