Adriana Kuch, a student in New Jersey, committed suicide after her video of being bullied and assaulted at school circulated online. Reportedly, Adriana’s father will be taking legal actions against the school.
On February 1, Adriana Kuch, 14, and her boyfriend were walking the school hallway of Central Regional High School in New Jersey. It was at that time when another student approached her and hit her in the face with a water bottle. When Adriana fell to the ground, she was persistently punched and kicked by a group of students. This assault and bullying incident was recorded in a video where other students were also heard cheering. Fortunately, around 30 seconds into the assault, two school employees have intervened.According to Roman, Adriana was allegedly bullied for months by fellow classmates at school. Following the assault and bullying recorded in video, Adriana suffered from severe bruises on her face and legs. Michael Kush, Adriana’s father, then took her to the police station to file a report after learning about the incident. No Actions Against Bullying
According to Rumpf, Michael will take legal actions against the school. He stated that he wanted to bring awareness to the school’s broken system that disregards extreme bullying. Michael reportedly blames the students who assaulted Adriana, the school, and the police for what happened to her daughter. He stated that he believes Adriana would still be alive if the school and police had decided to take action.
On February 5, the Central Regional High School informed the student body about the “tragic passing” of Adriana. The school also offered professional services for counseling and crisis. However, Michael stated that Adriana is not the only student at Central Regional High School who has suffered from extreme cyberbullying and physical abuse on school grounds. On Facebook, Michael shared stories of other students who suffered from bullying without the school administration taking any action.
On February 9, three students who were involved in the video incident faced charges of third-degree criminal assault. Another one was charged with disorderly conduct. All four students involved in the assault have also been expelled from the school.
