A St. Francis County woman died after the vehicle she was riding in went off the road on State Highway 38.
On Sunday afternoon, October 17, Arkansas State Police responded to a road crash report on State Highway 38 near Widener Hughes. According to the authorities, Robert Austill, 55, from Forrest City, drove along the highway with 69-year-old Sharon Like from Colt.
In a report from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, the vehicle was traveling west. Austill attempted a right-hand curve when he drove his car across the eastbound lane and off the roadway. Austill hit a brick and concrete structure after accidentally going off the highway, and this caused the vehicle to roll over and come to a final rest in the ditch on the driver’s side.
Robert Austill and Sharon Like were rushed to the Regional One Health Medical Center. Austill was being treated for the severe injuries he obtained; on the other hand, Like was pronounced dead later. The memorial of Like is being held at the Morgan Funeral Home.
As noted in the report, the weather was clear, and the road was dry when the crash occurred.
