Illinois has launched the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program to assist senior citizens and boost local agriculture. Eligible seniors can receive up to $50 in vouchers for locally grown produce aiming to improve access to nutritious foods and support nearby farmers, according to the report of Audacy.

Kelly Rice from the Illinois Department on Aging emphasized partnerships with organizations like the Greater Chicago Food Depository to distribute these vouchers. The checks are also available through 13 area agencies on aging statewide. Seniors are encouraged to contact these agencies for distribution dates and locations to obtain their coupon books conveniently.
