California State Stimulus Check Update, Here’s What You Should Know about CalEITC!

The state of California will offer low-income residents its own form of stimulus check, the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC).

Millions of Americans still await another round of stimulus check, but California will release the California Earned Income Tax Credit to low-income residents. This is to supplement the financial crisis experienced by some residents in the state.

In a published article in MARCA, the California Poverty Measure said that in 2019, around 16.9 percent of Californians were on low and moderate incomes. This happened before the pandemic, and the financial crisis became worse during the pandemic, even today.

How Much Will You Receive?

The amount that low- and moderate-income residents will receive depends on factors such as income, filing status, and the number of qualifying children. As mentioned in the report, the CalEITC aims to help low-income residents meet their basic needs and reduce their poverty level.

Furthermore, to become eligible, a claimant must have filed their 2020 taxes, qualified for the CalEITC, used an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number during tax filing, have a total California Adjusted Gross Income of no more than $75,000, and resided in California for over half of 2020.
