Eligible homeowners in Alabama will receive an amount of $25,000 in free money as part of the program to repair their homes.
$25,000 in Free Money in Alabama
Eligible homeowners in Alabama have the opportunity to receive an amount of $25,000 for home repairs. Montgomery County has intended an amount of $3 million from the American Rescue Plan which was included during the 2021 COVID-19 stimulus package.
In a published article in The U.S. Sun, the $25,000 federal money will be sent to 200 homes in Alabama county. However, not all homeowners will receive the free money; they need to meet the criteria and will receive the payment as part of the Critical Home Repair program.

How To Qualify? How to Use the Free Money?
According to a published article in Montgomery Advertiser, Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Program Manager Timothey Fletcher said, “What we’re trying to do is give someone basic shelter. This money is without strings,” Recipients must also be in need of serious repairs.
Additionally, homeowners must have low or moderate income and live in single-family or manufactured housing. Those in multi-family housing and apartments do not qualify for the cash. Moreover, the money can be used in the following:
- Roof replacement
- HVAC repair or replacement
- Plumbing repairs
- Electrical repairs
- Limited structural repairs
- Exterior painting
- Septic System
