Florida Mom Criticized Walmart

The Florida mom started her argument by explaining Danielle Kirk’s statement about Walmart having the most SNAP recipients on their payroll. According to the Florida mom, Walmart is trying to take advantage of low-income workers when they don’t even receive adequate salaries for their hard work. Walmart is the largest employer of SNAP recipients, the Florida mom added, and that hugely benefited the company. The Florida mom specified a $9,600 work opportunity tax credit that Walmart bags in each SNAP recipient it employs adding that it could hire as many workers as it wants while taking all that credit. Viewers of the Florida mom’s video sided with her as they shared some similar experiences they encountered with Walmart.

Facts To Support Florida Mom’s Claim

SNAP has 70% of all enrolled recipients either working full-time or part-time. It is the largest provider of benefits to low-income Americans through an Electronic Benefits Transfer card which acts like a debit card that can be used to purchase food from authorized retailers. According to a report, Walmart increased its worker pay in 2015, however, its overall pay does not suffice to cover day-to-day expenses. The move prompted Walmart to lose $20 billion of its market cap which may prevent the retail giant from raising pay in the future.
