This coming February, a few states in the U.S. will be receiving stimulus payments. Massachusetts, Idaho, and Virginia will provide their residents with payments of up to $600. These payments are intended to help the residents combat with the rising costs of inflation. Some of these payments will be received on a monthly basis. On the other hand, some will be received only once, as reported by MARCA.
Massachusetts
In Massachusetts, the CHELSEA EATS program is launched for around 700 residents of Chelsea, Massachusetts. The amount of payment is based on the size of a household. A household with one person will receive $200, while a two-people household will receive $300. For households with three or more people, they will receive $400. Applications must have been submitted last January 6. Recipients of the payments will be randomly selected via a weighted lottery. However, those with disabled dependents or children under 18, senior citizens, and veterans will be preferred. Applicants must wait until February to process the winners, as reported by Notheis.
Idaho
According to an article in MARCA, the residents of Idaho will receive a one-time payment of $600 in February. It was originally approved in September 2022 after the state had allocated a spending package that would decrease the budget surplus and reduce state taxes.
Virginia
Notheis also stated that in Alexandria, Virginia, the Alexandria’s Recurring Income for Success and Equity (ARISE) program was launched. This program randomly chooses 170 eligible recipients who will receive $500 every month for 24 months. To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Alexandria. They must also be at least 18 or older and earn 50% or below the Alexandria’s Area Median Income. Unfortunately, applications for this program have already ended on November 9 last year.
